AAHPM Week in Review: November 19-23

The Academy offices will be closed on Thursday, November 22 and Friday, November 23 for the Thanksgiving holiday. We hope you enjoy your time with family and friends during this season of thanksgiving.

We have created a new Giving Center page webpage to make it easier for you to donate to AAHPM. Remember, your generous donation will create a lasting legacy for the field of hospice and palliative medicine, support emerging leaders, and strengthen the future of the Academy. Consider making a gift to the Academy today.

The National Coalition for Hospice and Palliative Care is hosting a complimentary webinar on Mon., Dec. 17, 2:30 – 4 pm (ET) to present an overview of the newly published National Consensus Project’s Clinical Practice Guidelines for Quality Palliative Care, 4th ed. Early registration is encouraged, space is limited.

AAHPM was will represented at the Palliative and Supportive Care in Oncology Symposium in San Diego last week. Some of the key content areas included presentations on research in communication, training oncology clinicians in palliative care, survivorship, adolescent/young adult care, financial toxicity of cancer care, and opioid access. The 2019 Symposium will be October 25-26 in San Francisco.

Registries partners Angela Marks from UCSF and AAHPM staff members Katherine Ast and Angie Forbes recently participated in the Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS) Summit on Physician Learning and Improvement focused on how we can effectively use the data from clinical registries to drive practice-based learning and improvement.
