AAHPM joined fellow members of the GME Advocacy Coalition to send a letter thanking congressional leaders for investing in physician training by adding 1,000 new Medicare-supported graduate medical education positions as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act passed at the end of the year. It’s the first increase in nearly 25 years. Similar letters were sent to committee and bill leaders.

Academy staff participated in a NCHPC meeting with CMS’ Quality, Safety & Oversight Group to discuss hospice program integrity provisions included in the Consolidated Appropriations Act, particularly changes to the hospice survey process and a new Special Focus Program for poor-performing providers. The Coalition previously offered input when the HOSPICE Act, from which these provisions were drawn, was being developed.

We are pleased to announce that Emily Muse has been promoted to Senior Manager, Marketing and Membership (AAHPM’s Senior Director of Marketing and Membership). Emily most recently served as the Director, Membership and Community Engagement at the Academy. In her new role, she will lead the development and implementation of an integrated marketing plan for the Academy and continue to build member engagement.
