What exactly is the State of the Science Meeting?

Here’s everything you need to know about the State of the Science in Hospice and Palliative Care Research Symposium, being held in San Diego, CA, March 20-22, 2020.

The State of the Science is AAHPM’s first research meeting.

During this pilot meeting, AAHPM has strategically located the meeting in the same city and similar time frame of the Annual Assembly. This co-location saves on cost and the burden of dual travel for interested attendees.

The Annual Assembly and the State of the Science will overlap, but only on Saturday, March 21. View the schedule for more clarification on timing and locations. Attendees of the Assembly AND the research meeting will convene at “The State of the Science” plenary session on Saturday morning to connect and learn about the latest in hospice and palliative medicine research together.

After the plenary, State of the Science attendees will return to their meeting at the adjacent Manchester Grand Hyatt, while Annual Assembly attendees will proceed to their sessions at the San Diego Convention Center.

The research meeting will be a great opportunity for fellow investigators to network closely with other researchers in the field, allowing for a deeper connection and knowledge sharing. It is truly a jumping off point for research in hospice and palliative care.

The State of the Science Research Symposium registration is an additional fee from the Annual Assembly; however, those looking to attend both will receive a 20% discount on the Annual Assembly registration rate.

More information will be available this summer. A call for proposals will open in October 2019, so keep your eyes peeled!
