Week in Review: November 4-8

Get involved in AAHPM by serving as a Forum, Special Interest Group (SIG), or Council leader. Applications are now open through November 25. This is a great opportunity to stay informed about the work of the Academy and helps ensure your unique group voice is heard.

The new edition of the HPM FAST Hospice Regulatory online practice module is now available at the AAHPM bookstore. This online module contains 25 new and updated questions. Topics covered include: key components of the Hospice Medicare Benefit (HMB), Conditions of Participation, services of Interdisciplinary Group (IDG), and understand important components of Medicare payment and billing for hospice services.

Interested in serving in a leadership role on the PC-FACS editorial team? Applications are now being accepted for several open positions. Eligibility requirements: member in good standing for one year; three years of post-residency professional activity predominately in HPM; commitment to AAHPM as evidenced by participation in a committee, SIG, etc.; CV and writing sample. Application deadline is November 18.

The Annual Assembly Call for Case Submissions and Scholar ePosters closed on November 1. A recording breaking number of 434 submissions were received. Committee reviews will begin in mid-November and selections will be made in early December. Submitters will be notified in mid-December of the final status of their abstract.

AAHPM was one of 305 organizations, institutions, and businesses that joined the Ad Hoc Group sign-on letter urging appropriators to work quickly to agree to a significant increase in the Labor-HHS allocation, and provide a robust increase in funding for NIH in FY 2020.
