Nominations are now being accepted for AAHPM Awards, Board of Director positions, and Nominating Committee positions. Members of AAHPM can login to learn more about eligibility requirements and submit their nominations. The call is open through June 3.

Registration is now open for the free Virtual Career Fair on June 15. The fair is open to anyone seeking a position in hospice and palliative care. Employers are welcome to view the exhibitor form and see what fits your participation needs. If you are looking for a new position now, there are more than 800 open positions available on the AAHPM Job Mart.

The AAHPM Fellowship Training Committee will be hosting the first in a series of engaging webinars designed to address the diversity gaps of hospice and palliative medicine fellowship training programs. DEI in Fellowship Recruitment: Application Review and Interviewing, featuring Adam Marks, MD MPH FAAHPM, and Katie Stowers, DO, will take place on June 29 at 12 noon CT.

In a Senate HELP subcommittee hearing on healthcare workforce shortages, U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin spoke about the palliative care workforce shortage in the context of health equity for patients with serious illness and cited the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act as a policy solution. AAHPM submitted a letter that was included in the hearing record.

The Academy and coalition partners are capitalizing on Congress’ focus on shoring up the nation’s infrastructure to advance key policy priorities. AAHPM joined The Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research in sending a letter to congressional leaders urging investments in medical research infrastructure and supported a GME Advocacy Coalition letter requesting additional Medicare-supported GME slots be included in any forthcoming infrastructure package.
