In advocacy news:

  • AAHPM was one of 430 healthcare stakeholders that urged Congress to enact permanent reforms that ensure Medicare beneficiaries will not lose access to virtual care options when the COVID-19 public health emergency expires. The groups sent a letter highlighting the virtues of telehealth and outlining our policy priorities.
  • The Academy also joined other provider organizations in calling on congressional leaders to address pending cuts under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. Our letter asks lawmakers to maintain a 3.75% increase to the Conversion Factor enacted last year, at least through 2023.
  • AAHPM, individually and collectively with NCHPC partners, has endorsed the newly-introduced Expanding Access to Palliative Care Act (S. 2565). This bipartisan legislation would provide for the testing of a Medicare payment model to support community-based palliative care.

AAHPM has launched its new online learning platform, AAHPM Learn. Changes to AAHPM products have taken place so please review access points to your previously purchased products. A new learning experience awaits you. Visit learn.aahpm.org to discover a new learning experience.

There are more than 1,200 jobs posted on the AAHPM Job Mart. Whether you are seeking a new position, or seeking someone to fill your position, turn to the Job Mart to find qualified candidates in hospice and palliative medicine.

NOTE: After this issue, the Week in Review will be evolving into a monthly wrap up on all Academy happenings. Look for the first wrap up in late August!
