Week in Review: January 27-31

Although the early bird deadline has passed there is still time to register for the Annual Assembly and the State of the Science in Hospice and Palliative Care. If you attend both events, you can save an additional 20% on your Assembly rate.

The Board of Directors is excited to share AAHPM’s new strategic plan, 2020: Our Vision. Our Future, which will guide the Academy over the next several years. It includes five overarching goals: Expand and Enhance Engagement; Build and Sustain a Diverse Workforce; Engage, Develop and Sustain Expertise; Promote Quality of Care, Research and Translation of Evidence into Practice; and Advance Health Policy and Advocacy.

Incoming AAHPM President, Rodney Tucker, recently attended the American Society of Association Executives’ “Exceptional Boards” course with staff members Steve Smith and Peggy Reilly. During the program, AAHPM governance practices and tool were highlighted by the course presenters and featured throughout the program.

The Cambia Health Foundation is seeking applicants for its Sojourns Scholar Leadership Program, which is designed to cultivate and advance the next generation of palliative care leaders. Scholars receive funding to conduct an innovative clinical, policy, education, or systems change project in the field of palliative care. Interested individuals should submit a Letter of Intent by February 21, 2020.
