The AAHPM Ascend leadership program early bird deadline closes September 7. Apply to become a Fellow of the Academy. If you are a physician who is active in the Academy and board certified in HPM, you can apply to achieve the FAAHPM distinction, one of the highest honors the Academy bestows on its physician members. The due date has been extended to September 18.

Participate in the Virtual Board Prep Study Thread on AAHPM Connect if you’re preparing to certify/recertify for the board exam. This group will present board style cased-based questions, allowing for both peer-to-peer knowledge sharing and direct interaction and Q&A with experts in the field. Simply add #HPMboards20 when posting or replying to messages in the Open Forum to follow the discussion.

The Essential Practices in Hospice and Palliative Medicine learning modules released in September 2017 were originally set to expire on September 18, 2020. All modules were reviewed and edited by August 31, 2020 to ensure the content is accurate. CME/MOC expiration dates have been extended through September 18, 2023 and may only be claimed one time.

AAHPM submitted comments to ACGME regarding common program requirements for internal medicine. The Academy strongly endorsed the inclusion of HPM as a mandatory component in residency training and also recommended an assessment of pilot programs testing the feasibility of fulfilling some of the fellowship requirements during residency, including revising program requirements to ensure this combined option is meeting intentions.

The AAHPM office will be closed on Monday, September 7 in observance of Labor Day. You can still access the website at aahpm.org.
