AAHPM Week in Review: September 17-21

Staff has prepared this update of AAHPM activities during the week of September 17, 2018:

  • AAHPM in partnership with the National Coalition of Hospice and Palliative Care and the RAND Corporation, were awarded a $5.5 million three-year grant from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to develop patient-reported quality measures for community-based palliative care. The measures are intended for use in CMS’s Quality Payment Program (QPP), including the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and Alternative Payment Models (APMs).
  • A new web page on resiliency and well-being was just added to aahpm.org. The resources will help you think about new ways to build resilience for you, your team and your organization. By working together we can affect policy change and improve our systems to find ways to renew our spirit and continue to find joy in our work.
  • AAFP, in conjunction with FMAHealth, is seeking two members interested in participating in a 12-month health equity fellowship.Ideal candidates will have foundational knowledge of how social determinants impact health, with specific examples of issues facing their communities. Interested applicants must be AAFP members, in practice or on teaching faculty, and out of residency and fellowship. Deadline to apply is September 28.
  • Interested in serving in a leadership role on the PC FACS editorial team? Applications are now being accepted for 17 open associate editor Deadline to apply is Friday, September 28th, for terms that begin March 2019. Contact Elizabeth Smith for further information.
  • The University of Utah HPM Fellowship Program was selected by the AAHPM Fellowship Grants Advisory Group to receive the YC Ho/Helen and Michael Chiang Foundation fellowship grant to partially support one fellow for the 2019-2020 academic year. The Ho/Chiang grant supports a program operating a pediatric track within an adult fellowship training program. Congratulations to the University of Utah.
  • The Annual Assembly Scientific/Quality Improvement Subcommittee selected 64 papers (lectures) and 122 posters for presentation March 13-16 in Orlando. Notifications will be sent in October. We thank the AAHPM and HPNA members who served as reviewers and contributed to providing this quality content.
