AAHPM Week in Review: May 20-24, 2019

Help build momentum for PCHETA. The Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act passed the House last Congress, and AAHPM is working to re-engage lawmakers to maintain bipartisan support and advance the bill. AAHPM’s Legislative Action Center makes it easy to contact your Representative and ask them to cosponsor H.R. 647. (Suggested messaging generated by status of legislator’s support.)

The new application for the Circle of Life Award is now available. The Award celebrates innovation in palliative and end-of-life care, with a goal of shining a light on programs and organizations which serve as models or inspiration for other providers. Consider nominating your organization or program. Applications are due August 16.

HPM will again participate in the Medical Specialties Matching Program for the 2020-2021 appointment year. The Match will open August 28 and Match Day will be December 4. All HPM fellowship program directors were asked to complete an online questionnaire to capture intention to participate. As of May 23, 138/148 programs have committed to participate with 363/379 funded positions. Only three programs have declined.

The AAHPM offices will be closed on Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day. Enjoy the start of the summer season.
