AAHPM Week in Review: August 20-24

The staff has put together this synopsis of AAHPM activities from the week of August 20, 2018:

The Nominating Committee met to consider the many highly qualified candidates nominated for officer and director-at-large positions on the AAHPM Board of Directors. All eligible voting members will receive an email with instructions for completing the ballot when voting opens on September 24. Please be sure to cast your ballot before the election closes on October 15.

AAHPM Board Member Shaida Talebreza spoke with health policy staff of U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) about S. 693, the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act (PCHETA), urging the Senator to cosponsor the bill and help advance it through the HELP Committee on which he serves. Have you e-mailed or tweeted your senators to ask for their support?

AAHPM Past President Ron Crossno represented the Academy on the inaugural call of the American Medical Association’s new Pain Care Task Force, which is bringing together select medical societies to examine current challenges in the public health crisis of undertreated and mistreated pain and prioritize organized medicine’s response.
